Ryland U16A Qualify for ENG U16's Netball Cup National Finals - the HARD way

A very unusual affair.

This competition started with in a league format with the U16A finishing 2nd to unbeaten Barr Beacon, (it was against this side that saw Ryland's only defeat.)

Then it went a bit odd, 1st and 2nd qualified for the semi-finals directly but 3rd-6th had to qualify via play-offs. The play-offs were won by TT Warriors and Poole who went on to play Barr Beacon and Ryland U16A respectively.

This meant that come the semi-finals the top two teams had cooled a bit and in a bizarre twist both Barr Beacon and Ryland lost to teams they had beaten earlier in the evening.

So Barr Beacon and Ryland U16A had to battle it out in a 3rd/4th place play off to decide which of the two would join Poole and TT Warriors at the finals in December.

There was a lot of pressure on the game and the team performed really well to take the honours and qualify.

Well done to Ryland U16A and commiserations to Barr Beacon who must be scratching their heads trying to work out how they can win the league phase and not qualify.
